On November 5th, 2021, HEBO Consult met with Ardhi University PHD associates and Master’s students to discuss The Role of Project Management in Land Administration, Valuation and Management how Project Management can be introduced into future curricula of different courses such as Land Management Valuations.
The discussion involved how Project Management expertise will provide them a new perspective on how to handle challenges and generate possibilities for the students. The conversation of how Project Management applies to Land Administration & Management has been going on for years. Bulla B. Land administration and management systems are a critical component of the land market’s effective operation. Land markets allow land to flow to those who are willing and capable of making good use of it, facilitating investments and growth, as well as improving land allocation and developing financial markets.
Expected outcome of Land administration and management and Project Management are somewhat similar. The expectation to explain different approaches for data capture and data management, administration, and carrying out research by applying appropriate research methods are similar to the ones of Project management.
Additionally, being able to study and design land administration and management systems, including land policies, to address modern issues such as high land stress in a dysfunctional tenure and registration system. Initially the approach was for the students to get certified which is still the narrative but now lecturers and professors can also get certified to equip them to pass on the knowledge to the students as well.
Project management will improve the quality of an individual’s work, help individuals learn from failure, and help them organize and manage new knowledge, in addition to the previously mentioned benefits of project management for students.
Tanzania’s infrastructure has been growing rapidly in recent years, from roads to airports to railways, and it shows no signs of slowing down. As the demand for qualified project leaders grows, it is up to us to educate the next generation of project managers so that Tanzania can grow not only in infrastructure but also in other sectors such as industry, health care, information and technology, and many others, but that’s a story for another day.
