1. Familiarise Yourself With The PMP-Exam Before Entering The Examination Room.
To build awareness of both the environment and the examination rules, Mr. Muro advises PMP students to familiarise themselves with the PMP exam before entering the examination room. This will help you in your time management, and it will prevent you from being caught by surprise.
For instance, once you have reviewed the PMP exam instructions, you are unable to go back to revise them. Hence, it’s important that you are familiar with the exam instructions prior to taking the actual test.
2. Manage your exam time wisely & Review questions after every phase
Properly managing the exam time, and being careful not to use more than 1 minute per question is another secret to Muro’s success with the PMP exam. “I advise once you are done with all questions, you can take 5 mins to review questions to make sure they are intact. If you find a question that you are not sure of, you can flag it so that in the end you can come back to that question. And then just review them and make sure you answer them correctly.”
3. Take The 10-Minute Break
After 60 minutes of absolute focus on the PMP exam, any student is likely to be tired. Mr. Muro advises students to take the 10-minute breaks that come after every exam session, “I don’t advise connecting one session with another, since you need a break to stretch yourself and make sure you are comfortable for the next session.”
4. Monitor Your Time Spent in Answering Questions
Frequently glance at the stopwatch to monitor the time spent on every question. “You need to check how much time has elapsed so that you can compare your speed and know whether you are on track or out of track so that you know how to balance your time.” An average of 1 minute or less per question is the best approach, according to Mr. Muro.
The PMP exam goes beyond testing concepts and knowledge acquired by the candidate. It tests your overall understanding as a project manager. “Whenever you get into the exam, everything that you’ll be asked will be a scenario question, a situational question, of which you are required to respond, as a project manager.”
