“Project management is the backbone of every successful transformation—it enables vision to become strategy and strategy to become action.”
Jeritha Ngowi is an accomplished IT Project Management professional in the Telecommunications industry, overseeing a growing portfolio of technology-driven projects that shape the future of digital connectivity. Her story is one of academic progress, purposeful transitions, and leadership in a dynamic and demanding industry.
Let’s Explore Her Educational and Career Journey
Jeritha’s academic journey laid a strong foundation for her professional success. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and later pursued a Master of Science in IT Management, a move that not only deepened her understanding of technology systems but also equipped her with the strategic tools to manage people, budgets, and large-scale digital initiatives.

“With a Master of Science in IT Management and a background in Computer Science, I’ve always had a keen interest in how technology can solve real-world problems and improve efficiency’’, she explains. Her career began as a Junior Project Manager in a technical capacity, where she worked closely with development teams on software solutions and infrastructure deployments. But even in those early roles, Jeritha was naturally drawn to coordination, planning, and translating client requirements into actionable project steps. Her ability to connect with teams, ensure timely deliverables, and manage shifting priorities made her a standout professional.
Over time, she transitioned from purely technical roles into full-time project management. This shift allowed her to oversee cross-functional teams, engage with senior stakeholders, and manage complex timelines and budgets across multiple projects. Today, she plays a pivotal role in the telecom sector, ensuring digital transformation projects are executed seamlessly and aligned with strategic business goals.
What Inspired Her to Pursue Project Management?
“While studying Computer Science, I realized that many great technical solutions failed not (just) because of poor design, but because of poor project execution. That’s when I started diving into project management”, She says. Jeritha was drawn to the discipline by its structured approach to problem-solving and goal achievement. She saw project management as the bridge between ideas and execution, and this perspective has guided her career ever since.
Her pursuit of the PMP® Certification
Despite years of experience managing projects, Jeritha sought formal recognition and validation of her expertise. “While I had years of experience managing projects, I wanted to formalize my knowledge and stay aligned with global standards. Pursuing PMP® was the logical next step to take my career to the next level”, she reflects.
Her decision to pursue PMP® was about credibility, confidence, and continuous growth.

Her Challenges and Breakthroughs
Jeritha’s certification journey came with its share of obstacles. Jeritha shares; “Yes, the main challenge during my PMP certification journey was balancing my demanding job with rigorous studying required while also balancing family responsibilities. Honestly, there were moments of doubt, but I kept reminding myself of the bigger picture. I created a structured study plan and remained disciplined in sticking to it.”
Her strategy for success? Focus, consistency, and a strong support system.
A Project Where Certification Made All the Difference
Jeritha’s certification has been a game changer in her current role. “With my PMP accreditation, I now oversee a whole portfolio of IT projects, the PMP® framework has enabled me to organize, prioritize, and lead more effectively.”
From resource allocation to risk mitigation and stakeholder management, she applies PMP® principles daily to enhance project success rates and improve delivery standards.
“PMP has given me the tools to manage resources efficiently, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver results with confidence. It’s elevated my leadership and helped standardize project execution across our department.”
Navigating Challenges as a Woman in Project Management
Jeritha openly acknowledges the gender-based challenges women face in leadership roles. “Yes, like many women in leadership roles, I’ve encountered biases and resistance—especially when leading all-male technical teams or making high-stakes decisions.” She has learned to navigate these challenges by anchoring herself in preparation, professionalism, and performance. “I’ve learned that the best way to break through biases is by consistently delivering results. Competence is hard to ignore.”

Lessons and Advice for Women in Project Management
Through her experiences, Jeritha has embraced a resilient and strategic approach to growth.
“I’ve learned that emotional intelligence is just as important as technical skills. Building relationships, communicating clearly, and empowering others go a long way in delivering successful projects.”
